why do waitresses get paid a wage, plus tips? i know that being able to earn more money by getting more tips is how waiting tables can actually be a lucrative job. but why cant they just earn, then, for each shift, either minimum wage or, if higher, what they earned in tips? that way they would have both a safety net, and the opportunity to earn extra money.
That is exactly how it works. You. Fucking. Moron. The wage I earn would not even cover taxes.
